Cosmetic surgery procedures trivialised

Reality shows and competitions sensationalise the aesthetic medicine sector. Shows such as “10 Years Younger” have helped fuel demand for treatments in the UK. But fortunately cosmetic surgery shows are not always rose-tinted. To counteract the media’s overly-optimistic depiction of procedures, The Ugly Face of Beauty – a four part series presented by Dr Christian Jensen – highlighted potential programmes. The programme emphasised the importance of checking the practitioners qualifications before undertaking treatment and it underlined the need for industry regulation.
