Sculptra® Liquid Facelift
Sculptra® Liquid Facelift – Turning Back The Clock
Over time your skin loses its full, firm, youthful appearance because of the natural ageing process. Collagen is the substance your body produces to give your skin a firm and youthful appearance and, from an early age, the amount of collagen your body produces slows down. You also lose fat tissue which maintains the fullness of your face, as your face becomes thin and narrow, you look older.
At Temple Aesthetics we offer Sculptra®, known as the liquid facelift. Sculptra® helps your skin to replace lost collagen to smooth lines and wrinkles, helping you to look younger, naturally. With Sculptra® we can treat most areas of your face and the treatment is very long-lasting.
What is Sculptra®?
Sculptra® is a simple, injectable volumising treatment that stimulates the body’s own natural collagen to smooth out lines and wrinkles. It also restores lost facial volume gradually giving you a fuller, younger-looking face.
Why Sculptra®?
Sculptra® works gradually to give a natural effect. Usually 2-3 treatments are required and results should start to be noticeable after approximately 6 weeks. In some patients this may take longer or require more treatments. The final results are usually apparent 8-10months after your final treatment.
Unlike common temporary fillers, Sculptra® provides the long-lasting reduction of wrinkles and creases. Clinical studies have shown that the results can last for up to 2 years following your last treatment, significantly longer than many other injectable treatments.
Suitable areas for Sculptra®
Sculptra® is not just for individual lines and wrinkles but for all the areas of your face that may be concerning you:
- Lines between your nose and mouth (nasolabial folds)
- Lines around the corners of your mouth
- Wrinkles in the cheeks and chin
- Sunken cheeks
- Recessed temple area
- Jowls

How long does treatment take?
Following a consultation, a typical treatment may take approximately 20 to 30 minutes depending on how many areas require treatment.
How long before you see the results? SCULPTRA® takes time to work, with the results becoming noticeable after about six weeks. It may appear to have an effect immediately after your first treatment visit, but this is because of swelling from the injections and the water used to dilute SCULPTRA®. When the swelling goes down after a few days and the water is absorbed by your body, you may look as you did before treatment. You will have an appointment after a few weeks to assess you. Two or three treatments are usually necessary to obtain the desired result. It usually takes about 8-10 months after the final treatment to reach the final result
How long does treatment last? SCULPTRA® is a non-permanent treatment. Clinical studies have shown that the results can last for two years after the final treatment has been completed, significantly longer than other injectable treatments.
Is treatment painful? As with all injections, some discomfort is inevitable and you may feel a brief burning sensation at the injection site. An ice pack applied after the treatment can help to relieve this. If necessary, and especially if you are sensitive to injections, an anaesthetic cream will be applied to numb the area to be injected. Dr Robson prepares the SCULPTRA® with lignocaine so that the experience is more comfortable.
What is SCULPTRA? Sculptra™ is a synthetic injectable material known as "poly-L-lactic acid". Poly-L-lactic acid is biocompatible and biodegradable.
How does SCULPTRA® work?
SCULPTRA® works by stimulating the surrounding collagen in the areas where it is placed. The collagen stimulating effect lasts for 8-10 months which is why it takes this long to realise the final effect
Is SCULPTRA safe?
The main ingredient of SCULPTRA®™ Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) is biocompatible and biodegradeable and has been safely used for about 10 years in orthopaedic and facial surgery. Overall PLLA (SCULPTRA®™) has been found to be well-tolerated and has been shown to have a good safety profile in four clinical trials.
Is an allergy test necessary? No allergy testing is required before treatment.
Are there any side effects? The most common side effects are tenderness or pain, redness, bruising, swelling or bleeding at the injection site. These side effects generally disappear in 2-6 days. One possible delayed side effect with Sculptra® can be small bumps under the skin in the treated area. These may not be visible, and you may only notice them when you press in the treated skin. The bumps sometimes disappear of their own accord. Visible bumps, sometimes associated with redness or colour change to the treated area, have also been reported. All skin injection procedures carry a small risk of infection. By having an experienced and well qualified medical practitioner the risks of side effects is minimised. Should you develop any of these side effects, at Temple Aesthetics,we are unique in being able to offer appropriate and safe remedial treatment.
Is SCULPTRA suitable for all skin types? SCULPTRA® is suitable for all skin tones and colours, for both men and women.
Where can SCULPTRA be used? SCULPTRA® is ideal for treating all areas of the face.
